March 26, 2008 at 1:05 pm | In Funny moments in history, Personal | Leave a CommentI have a really great mother. She’s always cheerful and happy, helping all around the house, and taking good care of us.
But just now she did something that stunned me.
She was opening up her photo frame of wedding photos (with my dad of course haha), and she was like asking me to help her tear away the sticky tape that holds them together. I said I don’t dare to, afraid I’ll accidentally tear the photos. Then she did it herself. Suddenly, she accidentally tore one of the photos showing her alone in the wedding gown.
Then she said,” Aiya, torn already.”
I said,” Eh! Careful leh!”
She said, “Aiya never mind la, these are only paper..” Then without much ado, she just crumpled up the photo that she had torn, and threw it aside.
I screamed,”AHH! Why do you crumple it!?”
She said nonchalantly,” Never mind la, these are only individual photos, still got a lot.”
I was really stunned.
Then she said, ” Now a days there’s so many scanners around, can scan all these.”
I was thinking.. How she is going to find a scanner and I don’t think she will have the patience to scan all those photos…..
lol.
And I think I’m having the time of my life– 23 years old..
ND makes me happy too..
Now is the time to continue doing my assignments and stuff.
Feeling better already.
Quiet time first. (Need to put aside distracting books and magazines now.)
Interesting video and conductor.

Oranges and Chinese valentine’s day.

TODAY at work
I learnt something interesting about chinese new year.
Happens so that everyone was putting up CNY decorations at work when I popped the question.
Question: How long is Chinese New Year? Is it 12 days?
Answer: This is the answer I got from a colleague who is a Malaysian.
Chinese New Year lasts for 15 days and the 15th day is actually the day the chinese celebrates the chinese valentine’s day. [QI XI]
You know the day when the cowherd guy and the magpie woman get together blah blah thingy. [NU LANG ZHI NU]
I hate chinese romance stories as such
Tradition goes like this. Guys would hang out on that day to hook girls
And parents with traditional mindset would only allow their daughters out on that day.
So what happen is that, no there is no physical contact, the guys would write their contact numbers on an orange and drop it into the river at the top stream
And some guys would put in like a lot of oranges
At the bottom stream, girls would be catching oranges in the hope of finding someone whom they would love and all.
Like what? So crappy la. I feel sad for those girls who does not have their own freedom to go out whenever they want and all.
And oranges?? HAHAHAHA
One bad thing is that this is an activity which would cause pollution to the river.
And another is that you never know who you’re gonna meet.
My colleague thinks its romantic. And ya they do practice it in Malaysia
My point of view? Don’t waste oranges. Buy some food for the stray cats if you’re so rich.
Pleasant fright

Went home early today after work, so when I reached home, the TV was showing the reruns of the Star Awards on Channel 8.
I heard Felicia Chin’s voice and rushed close to the TV to see.
My mom said,” Always don’t wear specs, then squint your eyes.”
Then after I put away my shoes, I wore my specs and fixed my eyes the entire 10 mins on the TV.
Suddenly the phone rang.
I went to answer it, it was my Dad, asking to talk to my mom.
Then when my mom came to pick up the phone, I got a big shock.
She curled her hair.
I was really shocked. As I did not notice it when I saw her earlier on without my specs.
I was very stunned.
lol.
But she looked very much younger, though she’s only in her mid-forties, she really looked like she is in her early thirties.
Even more shocked.
What a fright. But a pleasant one. :p
