Good old vintage cartoons..
I have also come to realise that teaching a small child about values and important concepts is not easy, needs to have stories for them to understand and catch the point..
You say it best… when you say nothing at all..
May 30, 2008 at 7:09 pm | In Thoughts | Leave a CommentDon’t know why.. It’s late and I still can’t sleep.. I think it is really the post-night insomnia that always hits…
And whenever I’m sleepy, I tend to talk not in sense, but in my own “theory” and my own “world”.
Like blah and blah is because of blah and blah.
Time really flies.
I really don’t want to look back, regretting spending too much time on things that eats up my time.. like even blogging or surfing net….
The older you get, you may realise that the minute hand on the clock is turning faster and faster… the speed of time is increasing…
What do you have left? How much time do you have?
What is the most important thing to you? Does it really matter?
What is the one thing that you know you are good at that if you spend time developing it, you can make a significant contribution to the society?
Will there still be innovations and inventions when everything that can ever be invented is already there?
What else can you improve on and make new?
How can you live better? As a better person?
How do you spend more time with the ones you love while juggling the responsiblities and commitments you have?
Today when I prayed to God, I just felt that I’ve brought many heavy burdens before Him.
Today I also realized the grain of truth of what uncle Chris said, “Usually, people will talk to you about many things, but it’s only after a long time of talking, will they start telling you the actual problems they are having and facing.”
Sometimes I think it’s dangerous, when you have a lot of things to do and you just bury your time doing all those, and just keep on doing and doing, and time flies while you are at it. But what if in the end, all these doesn’t matter, and it’s not what you really want? And you get old, or you may just die early, and your life/youth is just spent on these? I would not be satisfied. Something deeper and more before I leave this world.
I really wonder how much time I have left. And if I’m left with little, how is it best to spend it?
Hope that I won’t die with regrets.
Sometimes human life is just too fragile. You will never know what will happen tomorrow.
Grasp the eternal hope. In Christ Jesus my Savior, I’ll try my best to live well.

Cherubs
May 29, 2008 at 4:23 pm | In whatever | Leave a CommentArt nouveau … is something that I’m quite into for my- our new room deco. I think it’s because when I’m very small, the piano lesson room has a big picture that looks like these cherubs and I would keep looking at it while waiting for my turn.
Perhaps inspired by Solomon’s temple— that has cherubs and pomegranates..
Inspired..
I’ve deleted the pictures of the cherubs, because I just found out that the cherubims mentioned in the bible are not babies with small wings…
Good evening artesacra-ga and thank you for the question. Cherubs (Cherubim) are the second highest Order of Angels (the first being Archangels). In the Throne Room they were said to stand next to the Throne of God. Cherubs are the first Angels mentioned in the Bible when two Cherubs are placed by God to guard the gates to Eden with Flaming Swords. Genesis 3:24: "He drove out the man; and at the east of the Garden of Eden He placed the Cherubim, and a Flaming Sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the Tree of Life." Ezekiel 10:14: “And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.” They were not described as the cute little "cupid like" Angels depicted by painters, but instead as having four wings. (Ezekiel 10:21). They also combined features of these four creatures; the stature and hands of a man, the hooved feet of a calf and the two pairs of wings. Two of the wings extended upward, meeting above and sustaining the throne of God; while the other two stretched downward and covered the creatures themselves. They never turned, but went "straight forward" as the wheels of the cherubic chariot, and they were full of eyes "like burning coals of fire" (Ezekiel 1:5- 28; 9:3, 10, 11:22). They were also mentioned in the 2nd book of Chronicles where the King Solomon decorates the Temple with the images of cherubs. 2 Chron 3:10: "And in the most holy house he made two cherubims of image work, and overlaid them with gold." Figures of golden cherubs with outstretched wings were on the lid of the Ark of the Covenant, and carved engravings of cherubs were on the walls of the Temple's inner and outer sanctuaries. Drawings of winged creatures appear on Mesopotamian stone tablets starting around 4000 BC. In paintings, they usually accompanied any of the Holy Trinity, as well as the Madonna. Many today envision cherubs to be naked little children with halos and wings (think Valetine's Day cards). These representations arose in Renaissance times (see Raphael's Sistine Madonna at ( http://www.eyeconart.net/history/Renaissance/sistine_madonna.htm ) and are based on still earlier representations found in Roman art forms and late Christian art. Some art historians believe Christians adopted the image of the winged dawn goddess Aurora or Eos to represent angels. Another interpretation of the nakedness of cherubs: “...Before the sin of Adam and Eve, the cherubs were unnecessary; they appear only as a result of the sin. Perhaps we may draw the following conclusion - the cherubs represent none other than Adam and Eve themselves, young and innocent and naked in the Garden of Eden...” Source: Aish.com ( http://www.aish.com/torahportion/moray/Innocence_Lost_and_Found.asp ) Cherubs are often confused with Putti. Putti comes from the Latin, putus, meaning "little man”. They are spiritual beings and thus depicted as winged little people. Years later, they were being depicted the same way. Which one they were, simply depended upon the theme of the painting or sculpture: If religious (sacred) -- they were Cherubs. If secular or mythic (profane) -- they were Putti. I hope this answers your question. If you would like clarification before rating my answer, please do not hesitate to ask! Armor of God
May 29, 2008 at 7:40 am | In Bible study, Thoughts | Leave a CommentHow I see it:————– (My own words in italics)
Ephesians 6:
The Armor of God
10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. (The devil has schemes to pull us away from God, to do the wrong things, to tempt us, to make us guilty and unable to grow in God. We can put on the full armour of God to take our stand against the devil, just like in a battle, the armour protects us, and enables us to fight the devil/evil.)
12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. ( These powers of the darkness are very real, and that is why it is so important to pray– spirtual warfare occurs when we pray.)
13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. (I think this verse means we need to put on the armour daily, because so that when the day of evil comes, we will be able to stand our ground. It also states that we need to do our part, to stand our ground.)
14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, ( Learnt this from Yuwei last time, the belt holds the whole outfit together, the belt of truth is God’s truth. God’s truth versus the lie of the evil one. e.g. The truth is that God has created us for His glory and to be like him, but the evil one tells us that we live for our own glory and to live our own lives and desires apart from God. The breastplate protects the vital organs like our hearts, lungs, liver..etc., the breastplate of righteousness protects our heart. Righteousness is important to prevent our heart from being injured by the evil one or corrupted.)
15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. (Our feet brings us where we will be going, either to the right path, or a path of sin. To fit our feet with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, also means to run away from sin and towards those who haven’t yet know God. Readiness as in a race, the competitors are always ready to dart ahead.. it means speed to me, and what I want to pursue..)
16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.( The shield of faith to extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one. Flaming arrows can be accusations, bombardments of impure things, impure thoughts or evil thoughts… To take up the shield of faith, faith in God and what He promises to do for us, and has done.)
17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (The helmet protects the brain and what we think, it guards our mind. The helmet of salvation, we should always think and dwell on the eternal salvation we have and how it guides our life purpose. My favorite item here is the sword. The only defensive weapon in the armour of God. The sword which is offensive towards the evil one is God’s word. We need to keep God’s word in mind so that in times of temptation, we can use it to rebuke our evil thoughts or lies from the evil one. And with the sword, the evil one will be defeated.)
18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. (Can always pray for everything that troubles us and for others..) (niv)

(From The Student Bible, NIV):
Ephesians concludes with a concise analogy, perhaps inspired by a glimpse of a Roman soldier, outfitted in armor, patrolling the grounds of Paul’s prison. Paul viewed the Christian life as a kind of warfare, and he wanted his readersto prepare for combat with a dangerous opponent. Bible scholars often note two details: (1) Only the “sword of the Spirit” is an offensive weapon; all the rest were used for defense. (2) No armor protects the back and rear; Paul made no provision for running away from a spiritual battle.

“Love your enemy and do good to him” “Overcome evil with good”
May 29, 2008 at 7:01 am | In Thoughts | Leave a Comment*Read some pages from this book “The G.I.F.T for all people— Thoughts on God’s Great Grace” by Max Lucado this morning after work… Those words comfort and help me to take a step back and see, even though there will always be people around who will backstab others or create lies to frame others, Christ has already forgiven them through what He had done for us.. and I need to learn to love them and pray for them… even though I’ve grumbled about them.. I’ve reflected and think that it is better to pray for them instead of blaming them for what they are doing, because they just don’t know that what they are doing is wrong and they may just continue. Biases, favortism and unfairness aside, I’ve come to see that God is in the background, He will protect you and keep you from the snare if you trust in him…just don’t get yourselves involved. Just bear with the things but if things are really too much, you have to speak up… My mother told me some words of wisdom. “Don’t let others’ mouths become your eyes.” She also told me some things that are helpful for me in dealing with certain situations and people. Well, before I can judge others, I need to take the plank out from my own eye first, I’m also not perfect. I’m sorry for grumbling about them, and I feel better seeing from God’s perspectives, that He loved them too. Mylene and Yuwei also told me last time that God loved them and has died for them too, so who am I not to forgive them and love them too. *
God showed his love for us in this way: Christ died for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:8)
And you never again have to wonder who your father is—- you’ve been adopted by God and are therefore an “heir of God through Christ.” (Galatians 4:7)
PONDER THE ACHIEVEMENT OF GOD. HE DOESN’T CONDONE OUR SIN, NOR DOES HE COMPROMISE HIS STANDARD. HE DOESN’T IGNORE OUR REBELLION, NOR DOES HE RELAX HIS DEMANDS. RATHER THAN DISMISS OUR SIN, HE ASSUMES OUR SIN AND, INCREDIBILY, SENTENCES HIMSELF, GOD’S HOLINESS IS HONORED. OUR SIN IS PUNISHED… AND WE ARE REDEEMED. GOD DOES WHAT WE CANNOT DO SO WE CAN BE WHAT WE DARE NOT DREAM: PERFECT BEFORE GOD.
Max Lucado
From wounded hands redemption fell down, liberating man.
But the harder I try the more clearly can I feel the depth of our fall
and the weight of it all

Sang this song over and over again when I reached home just now………………………………………………………….. The cd that I have of hers plays the track in a more instrumental and softer bass.. but I like this version too.
Just expresses how I’m feeling inside…and relieves the nausea that I was having due to typing for 3 hours non-stop.
Building sandcastles in the sky would prove to be futile.
And also…..

Jigsaw
May 20, 2008 at 3:37 pm | In whatever | 4 CommentsPassed by a big jigsaw puzzle shop while out with my friends just now… and I’m really keen to get an artistic one to do with my sis for our new “Mongy and Nana” room. Haha whatever.
My friend recommended the “Judgment Day” Jigsaw, but it was not available there. But I saw other paintings by Leonardo da Vinci which would look great… the one with the angel outside a porch pointing towards a woman with a book, the last supper, mona lisa …
But I’m also rather attracted to the Hello Kitty shiny reflective jigsaw which will be too cutesy for my sis.
There are also the 3D ones that will make up a sphere… I would choose the world-globe one but it’s quite ex.
Those that will glow in the dark will look nice too.. if only they can have glow-in-the-dark last supper, atomic bomb, or mona lisa… that would be so cool.
She’s great in filling the parts of the jigsaw, whereas I’m okay with finding the borders first… heheh.
Quite cheap too.
But mathematical puzzles like the “eternity solution” are good for the brain too. My brain is getting rusty. Help!!
