Last day of 2007

It has been a fastastic year.

In this year, I’ve got more of the hang at my job area and became more “steady” and more confident.

I’ve even been the champion at my ward party for being the most deployed staff of the year (50 times) to different departments all around.

I’ve been to several funerals, and one of my friend’s father passed away before she turns 21.

I’ve become more financially stable and independent after working for a year.

Learnt driving and flunked the test. hahahah. It’s alright as I need to learn how to “have grace under extreme pressure”. Driving isn’t as scary as I thought.

Patched up some old friendships from my secondary school years.

Made good friends with some of the colleagues at work whom I used to be afraid of.

My parents approved for me to go for baptism. And I got baptised this year.

First time attending Church camp in Batam this year.

Becoming more involved in the society that my mother pulled me to join.

Able to break free from some bad things that I wanted to stop doing.

Enrolled myself in the best part-time university for my profession currently recommended by a top-shot gun known by my mom.

I’ve been out of a long-term relationship (nearly 5 years), thank God for that too. God will not give you a scorpion if you ask for a fish.. or a stone if you ask for a bread………

Last day of the year…

I just really want to thank God for watching over me, and guiding me, giving me strength when I’m weak and down.

For a new day too.

Hallelujah… praise the Lord.

How to brush off a guy the less painful way for the guy.

For ladies, but may be applicable to guys. 

1. Talk like a crazy woman. He’ll think twice about your mental status.

2. Whenever asked a question that is actually nothing much and quite simple, just refuse to share with him. Then he will keep on asking you to tell him, “I’m very kapo, tell me leh.”, then don’t reply…He’ll get the idea sooner or later.

3. Do not reply his smses like Gd morning, or Nite, or At work? You will regret it if you reply the first sms. He will then keep on smsing you and you have to keep replying him.

4. Don’t dress up when you need to meet him e.g. to get somethings or some transactions, not even in nice casual, but in super sloppy, nerdy and messy hair look.

5.Have some bad humour and turn him off with it.

6. Ask him to meet up your friend instead.

7. Act as lame as possible. Like wahhaahahaha or ahahahahahahahah, for no reason.

(Arghhh… staying rational and logical is always best. And never never never be tempted to like that guy when he is super nice to you, if you know that you two are impossible.)

Stand firm

I’m beginning to know more and more of what I want in life now.

And I’m gonna stand firm on that….

It is important in many situations, to have your own opinion, instead of depending on others’ advice or directions. I mean not to depend, but it is perfectly fine to ask others. You still must have your own sense of what to do. Because, I believe that everyone is also a human and they may not give you the right answers. Sometimes, things go wrong especially when you trust what others say, and you find that is wrong actually. So, judge matters from your own view first, but you can also consult others, but you must have your own view and judgement, lest others mislead you.

Don’t care what other people say that you should have. Like for e.g that you are single like me, and they keep on insisting you to get a mate. You should not be influenced by them to get what they think you should have.

And don’t envy others’ success, it is futile, fruitless, in vain. Instead, look at what you can do to upgrade yourself or how you can improve from here. Wouldn’t that be more meaningful? What meaning would there be if you want to improve yourself just to match up to others? Even if you did, you would still be insecure wouldn’t you?

(These are some self-talk in my head today. Talking to myself actually. Just sharing on the blog)

As the year draws to a close, I look back, seeing God’s grace and providence throughout the year.

Remember His many blessings which are too numerous for me to count.

Through the stormy days, He’s been with me, giving me strength to face each day ahead.

Through good times, He reminded me to walk closely with Him.

When I sinned, His heart grieved, and He tried to bring me back to Him.

When I doubted, He showed me that He is trustworthy.

When hopeless, He has given me a brand new hope for the future..

When I’m sorrowful, His peace touched my heart.

He will sustain me with His strength to overcome temptations ahead and to do His will.

In the coming year, I want to continue to walk closely with Him and to love Him more.

He has loved me well.

So many things to be thankful of. Though man may fail me, but God will never !

He has said in the bible,” I will never leave you and I will never forsake you.”

Nothing else comes closer..

The world with its glitter has blinded my eyes,

that I could not see the wonder of the cross,

Thus when darkness came,

I stumbled and fell,

But when I got up and looked for a direction that can show me where to go,

I looked for a light that will guide me right,

And behold,

I can only find it in Jesus…

And this light has set me free…

And now I can finally see that His way is really the best for me.

Inspiring Uncle at medicinal hall..

There is an Uncle, a middle aged, bespectacled and slightly bald man who works at a chinese medicinal hall around my neighbourhood.

Whenever I walk past his shop, he will always be sitting near the tabletop which has cups of herbal tea placed on it. And he will always be very engrossed in reading a chinese book. And he always seemed to be so into that book, that sometimes he wears a smile on his face or just a thoughtful look.

I always wondered what it is he is reading.

And he would just read the book as there isn’t much customers, while soaking up in his quiet world of reading.

Today I bought the Chinese “super potent tea for cough and loss of voice” for my mom. And when he prepares the tea for you, you can feel his enthusiasm in cooking up that little packet of drink.

And somehow he seems very content and satisfied with his life somehow, in that old medicinal hall that one seldom sees customers.

He will never fail to inspire me everytime I see him.

Inspired me to read a little each day, to learn more each day, and to live my life to the fullest.

Amazing how this kind of ripple effect works to the people around us..

On a side track, thanks to blogging I’ve rediscovered my love for writing in a personal diary, which I’ve stopped after my secondary school days.

But I’ll still pop by once in a while to bbblog.

The Shepherds and the Angels

The first Christmas on earth is a peaceful one. That is why it is called Silent Night and Holy night.

The shepherds who saw the angel proclaiming the birth of the Messiah(Saviour) Jesus in a manger, were astonished.

They spread the word to others, while giving praises to God.

While Mary pondered on what was said, that Jesus would be the Saviour of mankind..

Christmas makes many businessmen happy. Their sales during this period could have easily make up for the losses earlier on in the year.

Christmas is the celebration of God becoming a man for us. A glorious and almighty God humbled and willing to come to Earth as a helpless baby. To fulfill His plan for us. What are we? Only His creation, but He loved us so much and we are the reason for Christmas.

Luke 5:36-39 (New International Version)

36He told them this parable: “No one tears a patch from a new garment and sews it on an old one. If he does, he will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old. 37And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins, the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. 38No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins. 39And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for he says, ‘The old is better.’ “

God wants to give us better things in life. And He wants to help us to move forward to give us grace to go through each day.

But are there any old attitudes that we are holding on to, that is not able to contain what God wants to pour into us?

Old mindsets, of ways of seeing things, include how you see yourself, as being worthy, capable or valuable or not.

Old thinking, like thinking that the past is the best, or destructive spiral thinking like ”This task seems impossible, so sian…”  

Instead, we should think fresh new thoughts, what to think then? Focus on God’s words. And get strength from him..

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.

I’m learning to make it point to thank God every morning when I open my eyes, and to pray for His help when facing difficulties throughout the day. And when I do that, I find myself doing what would have been very difficult without prayer..

As I read His word, it’s like a living water pouring forth inside me, nourishing my soul.. and giving insights and revealing things that I should change or be aware of.

If only one can see the beauty of God’s way and His commands.

Shuyu once said as an art collector, he always wondered what is the definition of beauty. And he realised that beauty is actually found in nature. To be natural is beauty. And art at it’s beautiful forms mostly portray the beauty of nature–God’s creation.

Although things may happen that may stumble me, or bad things do happen, I believe that God is still in control.

Wipe away your tears,

and see that a new day has come,

shining brighter than you have ever expected it to be…..

God’s love is real.

One of my really close friend always put on fake eyelashes whenever she’s out. And it makes a great difference in making your eyes look bigger. I’m influenced to a certain extent from these friends around me in the way we dress or makeup when we go out, since they have been with me for quite a long time.

But my favourite get up is to have no makeup at all, perhaps only mascara. And my favourite dressing style is the “lok-kok”style which is the most comfortable and I can cross my legs or other stuff like running.

But whenever I’m out with my close friends, I always need to take some time if not I’ll really be the odd one out.

But just for fun…(I’m just a little bored)

Here are some tips for ladies..

Mascara tips:

  • Use two types of mascara.
  • You must really crimp your eyelashes long first before putting on. (30sec)
  • Then use a small mascara wand (choose a lightweight formula) to go over the lashes
  • Apply 3 coats.
  • Then use a bigger wand, with those mini extension fibers, (choose a very black formula) then go over the lashes.
  • Apply 3 coats or as much as you want.
  • Remove any excess using a cotton bud dipped in eye-makeup remover.
